9 months away!?!?!!!

Guys, we're less than 9 months away from our departure date! I think. We don't actually have anything booked yet, but the plan is to leave mid-August. I remember when I used to have to say August of 2018 but now it's just THIS August. Or just August. Because it's happening in less than a year!

Which is crazy.

Trenton and I talked about our itinerary last night, because I'm trying to nail down more specific cities to give the nurse who's helping the kids with their travel immunizations, and he said we're going to wing it. Pretty much. It's cool, it'll be good. I'm not freaking out about that at all. Don't worry. I knew we were planning on playing it by ear once we flew into Bali, but I kind of had this idea that we'd decide ahead of the trip where we were going, and we were just going to be flexible with how long we'd be at each place. Or like, that we'd take a little side trip from somewhere because we'd heard about a great beach or something. But nope! He's comfortable winging it winging it!

We're leaving on a road trip today to spend Thanksgiving with Trenton's siblings and their families, and I'm SUPER excited to get out of the normal routine. Usually, I get a bit stressed about the packing and making sure everything's in order for us to leave etc, but for this trip, I'm just excited. We're visiting my brothers on the way down, and we'll take a side trip to visit Trenton's grandparents once we're down there - and I think Trenton is planning on taking the kids to a BYU basketball game which is always fun. It's just going to be chill and fun and time to bond and freeze in the snow! But being excited made me realize that our year-long adventure is really for reals going to be so fun and therapeutic and SO GOOD for our family. I think it'll be good for the kids to see different cultures and to experience a more humble lifestyle. It will be stressful for the day that we're trying to find our accommodations in the "winging it" locations, but once we find a place and settle in, it's going to be amazing to just have family learning and adventure time! I'm so scared about the logistics of it all, but I trust Trent's plan of not having a plan - at least I'm getting there - but I'm way more excited than scared. Especially if I don't let myself think about the scary parts for too long at a time!

I'm for sure going to talk about our tickets when we purchase them - that will kind of mean it's happening!! I'm slightly in denial about it being a real thing for now. I think I'll get even more excited once the ball is rolling.

Have you ever traveled for extended periods of time? Would you ever do it if the opportunity presented itself? Would you create the opportunity like Trent has? (quit your job and sell your stuff and just DO IT?)

Travelling the world!

GUYS! We're less than a year away from leaving on our first leg of our year long trip! Time is flying by! I'm excited, but also wouldn't mind if it slowed down just a little bit because we have SO MUCH TO DO to prepare! Trenton has been awesome at finding really great credit cards that provide awesome bonuses and rewards that don't end up costing us much if anything at all! Because of this, we'll be paying for most of our longer (read: more expensive) flights with points and rewards. He'll have to do a post on where he finds these deals and link them so you can work the credit card magic and get some free and super helpful rewards too! We use credit cards like cash, ps, and aren't ever in consumer debt. If we had to go into debt to get the rewards, we'd pass on that card and keep looking for something else. There are so many cool credit cards out there - it's not worth it to us to go into debt! We've been super blessed and haven't had to ...
